Accidental Shot Wounds Athol Man

An Athol, Idaho, man remained in serious condition Saturday night after suffering gunshot wounds when his pistol accidentally went off, police said.

Everidge Yonce, 58, was shot in the stomach by a derringer in his coat pocket around 5:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department.

Yonce was on his back patio when he dropped the coat and the small handgun went off, police said. He was taken to Kootenai Medical Center, then airlifted to Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane.
