Highland Methodist Sukiyaki Dinner Planned For April 15

It’s time once again for the annual sukiyaki dinner at Highland Park United Methodist Church.

The traditional meal will be served from noon to 7 p.m. on April 15.

The Saturday afternoon event will also feature a sushi bar, bake sale and handcrafts. Takeout orders will be available.

The cost is $8 per person, and tickets must be purchased in advance by calling the church office at 535-2687.

The church is located at 611 S. Garfield.

Palm Sunday brunch planned

First Presbyterian Church is making plans for a special Palm Sunday brunch on April 16. Three different servings are scheduled - 9:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and noon.

The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 5-12. Children under age 5 are free.

Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling the church office at 747-1058.

Proceeds from the event will benefit programs supported by the church.

First Presbyterian is located at 318 S. Cedar.

Guest speaker at Cathedral

The Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist will host guest speaker the Rev. Dinanath Pathak during this weekend’s worship services. Pathak, a priest of the Anglican Church of North India, will speak during the 5:30 p.m. service Saturday and the 8, 9 and 11 a.m. services Sunday.

All are welcome to attend. The cathedral is at 127 E. 12th.

Rummage sale will be Saturday

Central United Methodist Church, 518 W. Third, will host a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
