Reese’S No-Hitter, Bat Paces Hawks
Kevin Reese pitched a no-hitter and drove in six runs Wednesday, leading Lakeland to a 12-0 win at Priest River in Intermountain League baseball.
Reese struck out 10 and walked three. He homered and doubled during the Hawks’ 11-run sixth inning.
Jason Thomas added three RBIs for Lakeland.
Jayson Coleman hit a grand slam during a seven-run sixth, and Coeur d’Alene (3-1) powered to an 8-4 win at Colville (1-2) in the Border League. Vikings starter Matt Brown struck out three and walked one in 5-1/3 innings. Colville starter Joe Spears walked nine.
Eric Church earned the win and Dominic Dire tripled during Wallace’s 14-0 non-league win at St. George’s of Spokane.
Softball
Stephanie Ferro and Devlin Dougherty had RBI singles in the first and Coeur d’Alene (4-0) held on for a 2-1 Border League win at Colville (2-2). CdA’s Blake Hoorelbeke struck out six. Colville scored in the sixth, on a wild pitch after consecutive singles… . Also in the league, Rosie Parrott pitched a four-hitter and Stacey Withers had a two-run triple to cap a five-run fourth as Post Falls (1-1) recorded an 8-4 win at West Valley (0-1). PF errors allowed the Eagles to lead 3-0 after one.
Lori Baumann threw a one-hitter to lead Lakeland to a three-inning, 25-0 win at Priest River in the Intermountain League. Teea Stutheit and Jen Heuett both singled and doubled for the Hawks.
