Restaurant Robber Sought
Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man who robbed a restaurant on East Sprague Avenue last week, then attempted to rob another restaurant on Monday.
A man wearing a nylon stocking as a mask robbed the Taco Time at 6704 E. Sprague last Wednesday.
On Monday, a man with a nylon stocking over his head entered the Subway sandwich shop at 12025 E. Sprague and demanded money, but fled empty-handed.
A Subway employee told sheriff’s deputies a man wearing a nylon over his head, a black stocking cap, and gloves entered the restaurant at 9:30 p.m. Monday and demanded money from the cash register.
When the employee hesitated, the would-be robber began pressing buttons on the register, then left the shop when the register wouldn’t open.
The Taco Time was robbed at 9 p.m. last Wednesday by a man dressed the same and with a similar physical description as the man who attempted to rob Subway, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. David Reagan.
The robber, described as approximately 5-foot-9 and 140 pounds, entered Taco Time as two employees were counting money from the registers.
The suspect demanded money and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. He fled east-bound from the store, according to the sheriff’s report.
In both cases the suspect appeared to be unarmed.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived at Subway at 9:36 p.m. Monday. They searched the area but didn’t find anyone matching the description.
