Chase Nominee Kristina Forry Category: Community Service
“Kristina, as Associated Student Body President, dedicated herself to that cause (adopting a family at Christmas). Unfortunately, as the time drew near for purchasing gifts, it appeared they would be well short of their goal. Kristina…re-doubled her efforts to ensure that her ASB would not be the one to let the families down. …She sacrificed time with her friends, family and to a certain extent, her grades to solicit support from the student body of Shadle Park. In the days shortly before the end of the drive, she spoke of her concerns and cried a tear or two, but that seemed to strengthen her. When the final tally was made, they had raised more than $10,000 to feed, cloth, pay bills and provide Christmas for four worthy families,” wrote her nominator, Jeff Forry.
In an effort to support the mission of the Chase Youth Awards, which is to recognize all deserving young people for their accomplishments, Our Generation is highlighting some of the teens nominated for this year’s awards. Even though these nominees were not selected as winners, in many cases their accomplishments are just as worthy of recognition.
