Four Students Receive Global Cu Scholarships

Four Inland Northwest students have received $500 scholarships from Global Credit Union, made available to employees of that company.

Kyle Chambers and Michelle Grafos received the Mary Milla Scholarship.

Tim Zeitler and Joshua Forbes were awarded the Merle E. Brumgard Memorial Scholarship.

Chambers, a graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School, attends Dartmouth College, where he is majoring in pre-medicine.

Grafos, a graduate of Central Valley High School, is majoring in political science at the University of Washington.

Zeitler, a graduate of Medical Lake High School, attends Dartmouth College, studying a variety of arts and science subjects before choosing a specific area of study.

Forbes, a graduate of Medical Lake High, is pursuing a degree in aerospace in electrical engineering.

Amanda Diehl took first place in the National Society of Arts and Letters’ Ballet Division Competition, sponsored by the Kansas City, Mo., chapter in March.

In May, Diehl will compete in Chicago against 27 other chapter winners in an event that carries a prize of $10,000.

Diehl will graduate in the spring from the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, N.C. She transferred there from Central Valley High School two years ago.

She is the daughter of David and Gloria Diehl, Spokane Valley.

Ten University High School students passed the recent Microsoft Word Proficiency Exam at Spokane Falls Community College:

Trevin Francom, Rob Peck, Kory Holding, Andrew Moore, Chris McInturff, Nicole Petersen, Jana Steck, Melanie Archibald, Teagan MacDonald and Brian Jennings.

Maureen Sorenson, a business teacher at University High School, was instrumental in establishing the school as a training center for Microsoft.
