Man Carjacks Truck On Division

A man jumped into a brand-new truck stopped at a traffic light on North Division on Sunday afternoon, ordered the driver out of the vehicle and took off in the truck, a Spokane police spokesman said.

The truck - a year 2000 silver Dodge Durango - was stopped at Division and Mission about 4 p.m. when the man climbed in and told the driver to get out, which he did, said police spokesman Dick Cottam.

The carjacker did not display a weapon, Cottam said.

The truck has a temporary paper license in the rear window and plastic “Dave Smith” plates where the permanent licenses plates normally would be.
