Parking Meter Loan Deadline Extended

The developers of River Park Square have extended today’s deadline for the city to loan $450,000 in parking meter revenue or make a good faith offer.

The new deadline is Tuesday morning, said Duane Swinton, attorney for the developers.

If the city doesn’t come forward with the money or an offer, it could face a lawsuit, Swinton said.

Swinton said some discussion is continuing between the city and the developer, and that with five City Council members out of town Thursday and today, it would be difficult to get a council consensus.

“As long as discussions are fruitful and moving forward, we said we would give them an opportunity to participate,” he said.

However, Tuesday is the last chance, he said.

“I don’t like to draw lines in the sand and then move them,” Swinton said. “The deadline will not be moved again.”
