U.S. Rep. George Nethercutt will join Bloomsday founder Don Kardong and Friends of the Centennial Trail President Tom Engdahl to designate the Centennial Trail as a Local Legacy of the United States Library of Congress.

The event will be at 2 p.m. today at the west end of the Don Kardong Bridge on the Centennial Trail near SIRTI in downtown Spokane.

As part of the Local Legacy designation, the Friends of the Centennial Trail and Tom Engdahl Video Productions have produced an 8-minute video highlighting the history and uses of the 57-mile trail. Copies of the video will be available at the Local Legacy event and will soon be added to the permanent collection of the Library of Congress’ American Folklife Center.
