Ccs Women Sweep, Capture Division Title
A combination of stingy pitching and long-ball hitting lifted Community Colleges of Spokane to the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Northeast Division softball title on Saturday.
Kylee Curry pitched a three-hitter and Rebecca Triplett followed with a five-hitter as the Sasquatch (29-3) swept Walla Walla CC 7-2, 4-0 to complete the regular season. Home runs by Nicki Meyer in the opener and Sanoi Sao in the second game highlighted the CCS offense.
The Warriors (28-4) entered the day with a one-game lead and needed just a split to win the division. The Sasquatch are instead the No. 1 seed for the NWAACC tournament, which will begin May 20 at Sportsworld Softball Complex at Liberty Lake.
CCS coach Janet Skaife didn’t make the trip because she’s nine months’ pregnant.
