Violet (Tucker) Housam Spokane

Violet (Tucker) Housam, who was born May 8, 1900, celebrates her 100th birthday today. She was born in Brooks, Iowa, but has lived in the Northwest since she was an infant.

Mrs. Housam married Joseph H. Housam in 1925 and had two sons, David, Spokane, and Charles who is deceased.

For many years Mrs. Housam helped organize the Auxillary for the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hillyard and was a charter member and past president.

She has six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-granddaughters.

Mrs. Housam credits her longevity to never learning to drive, not smoking or drinking and walking daily.
