Horizon Air pilots plan to picket outside Spokane’s airport on Monday to draw attention to the airline’s approach to airplane safety and adequate crew rest.

The pilots, who are represented by Teamsters Local 747, have been trying to negotiate a contract with Alaska Air Group, Horizon’s parent company, since September 1997. They claim the company disregards safety regulations.

In addition to the informational pickets in Spokane, the pilots also visited Portland’s airport Friday. They are scheduled to visit Boise’s today. On May 16, the pilots will picket the Museum of Flight in Seattle, where Alaska Air Group is holding its shareholders meeting.
