Magnum P.I. For Prez

In an election year that has seen the possible candidacies of Warren Beatty and Cybill Shepherd come and go with fanfare, the notion of Tom Selleck running for president may not seem out of line. But before voters start wondering how Magnum’s Hawaiian shirts would look in the Oval Office - it is just a television movie. TNT will air in August “Running Mates” about a fictional Democratic candidate. The show is about the life of a presidential candidate as seen by four women - his wife, campaign manager, a former girlfriend with political motives and a Hollywood fund-raiser. Selleck, famous for his role as the title character in “Magnum P.I.,” is politically independent. But he has appeared in television commercials pitching the National Review and the NRA.
