500 Dancers Expected At Spring Pow Wow

Spokane Falls Community College expects to draw more than 500 participants for its third annual Spring Pow Wow on Saturday.

It is the first of several cultural events on campus that run through the week as part of the SFCC Cultural Kaleidoscope.

The schedule includes:

Saturday, 1 p.m., dancers and drummers will compete for prizes on the lawn between the campus Communication and Music/Performing Arts buildings. Arts and crafts vendors will be set up.

The following events will be in the Student Union Building lounges A and B:

Monday, 10:30 a.m., the South African reggae band Amandla Poets.

Tuesday, 9:30 a.m., international students explain what brought them to this country, their adjustments and tips on improving communications with them. That’s followed by Ukrainian and Russian songs and an information fair on international programs for students.

Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., dance demonstration by Latin American, Hungarian and Native American groups.

Thursday, 10:30 a.m., Jasmine Dellal, a filmmaker who profiled Gypsies and the Spokane Marks family, will show and discuss her award-winning film.
