Selkirk (23-2) and Northwest Christian (19-5) both qualified for the State B slowpitch softball tournament by winning twice during District 7 B tournament openers. At Ione, Amanda Link homered on her first swing, and Mollee Beatty and Sara Zenkert were both 3 for 3 as host Selkirk opened with a 20-3 win over Curlew. Selkirk qualified for state with a 7-4 win over Davenport that included throwing two runners out at home… . At Reardan, Stephanie Cofer homered in both games as NWC topped Lind 12-7 and Republic 8-5 to earn its state berth. Hope Johnson’s two-run single keyed the win over Lind… . Four other teams split two games during the day and will jockey for three state berths on Friday… . Curlew (12-10) and Lind (10-14) were eliminated. Nyomi Swan’s sacrifice fly in the seventh gave Inchelium a 7-6 win that ousted Curlew… . Ashley Jones singled, doubled and tripled and had three RBIs as Reardan eliminated Lind 16-1… . The tourney shifts to Kettle Falls on Friday. Day-opening matchups are: Inchelium vs. Republic; Reardan vs. Davenport; Selkirk vs. Bi-County No. 1 Almira/ Coulee-Hartline (21-1); and NWC vs. Panorama No. 1 Springdale (16-3).
