The Lakeland boys were the lone North Idaho team from the A-2 and A-3 ranks to advance on Tuesday to the second day of those two state golf tournaments.

The Hawks, playing at Blackfoot Golf Course in Blackfoot, finished sixth at 317 and moved on in the A-2 tournament by finishing within 10 strokes of the third-place team. Shelley led the way at 305.

Joe Finley was Lakeland’s top individual with a 79.

Kellogg’s Ryan Bailey fired a 72 and tied for second place, then finished third in a three-way playoff to take fourth but still gained medalist honors. His team placed 10th while Bonners Ferry was 14th as neither advanced to the final day of play.

There were no results available for any of the 2A girls teams or individuals, but no local team advanced and no local individualist medaled.

In the 3A tournament at Sandcreek Golf Course in Idaho Falls, Wallace, led by Dustin DeVoe’s 73, placed seventh but did not advance to the second round. DeVoe had the best score among among local 3A golfers.

Danielle DeVoe, shooting a 104, topped the Wallace girls team which finished fifth and also did not advance.
