Bomb Explosion Damages Car

Public safety Spokane County sheriff’s deputies investigating a report of a gunshot on the South Hill Sunday instead found a car that had apparently been damaged by a bomb.

At about 3 a.m., deputies responded to the 4500 block of E. 56th after residents reported sounds of a gunshot and car alarms.

They found the damaged 1995 Nissan parked with the rear bumper facing the street, which is where the deputies believe a bomb was placed.

The explosion split the bumper in two, blew open the trunk and blasted the license plate 50 feet down the street. Damage was estimated at $2,500. Deputies have no suspects at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
