Police Checking Out Pharmacy Robberies

Spokane police are investigating a series of pharmacy robberies and believe one man is responsible for most of them.

The most recent robbery was Thursday about 6:30 p.m. at the Tidyman’s at 6401 N. Cedar. The pharmacist said the man walked into the store and spent some time looking at Band-Aid packages.

When the second person behind the counter left for another part of the store, the man walked up to the counter, displayed a paper bag and told the clerk he had a weapon. He ordered the pharmacist to give him all of one type of drug in the store and not to warn anyone. The clerk complied and the man walked from the store and ran east toward Cedar, according to police.

On May 6, a man with a similar description entered the Walgreen’s Express at 1304 S. Grand about 4:15 p.m. He showed the clerk a handgun in his waistband and asked for the same type of drug. The clerk gave him the pills and he left, according to police.

On April 6, a robber entered the Walgreen’s Pharmacy at 2703 N. Division and told two employees he had a gun. He demanded a narcotic, was given several bottles and he left.

In all three cases, the suspect was described as white, between 18 and 20, about 5 feet 8. The weight description varies between 140 and 180 pounds.

On April 16, another armed robbery occurred at the Walgreen’s at 6515 N. Division about 10:30 p.m. There were two men involved and they demanded drugs.
