Spokane police are investigating a collision in which an elderly pedestrian was critically injured when he was hit by a car early Sunday morning on Division near Sinto.

The man was crossing east on Division and the car was traveling south. The victim went through the car windshield and into the front seat of the car, said police spokesman Dick Cottam.

He was listed in critical condition at a hospital, and his name has not been released. He was not crossing at an intersection and was walking against a red traffic signal at the time, police said.

Alcohol and speed were not factors, Cottam said.

The accident occurred just after midnight.
