Election: Results Online

Final results from Tuesday’s primary election are not expected until early today.

Local ballot issues throughout the Panhandle, coupled with contentious party precinct races, slowed automated ballot counting machines.

Deedie Beard, Kootenai County elections supervisor, said the machines use optical scanners that stop every time a write-in candidate is detected. That happened frequently Tuesday.

In Kootenai County alone, ballots had 12 write-in candidates, the most Beard has seen in 23 years.
