Law Enforcement Torch Run Today

Members of law enforcement agencies will run to raise money for the Washington Special Olympics today.

Officers from the Spokane Police Department, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol and Spokane Airport Police will be among those participating in the 2000 Torch Run for Special Olympics at 8 a.m. at the Riverfront Park clock tower.

Runners, escorted by police and sheriff’s motorcycles and patrol cars, will run 30 miles. About 70 local officers are participating.

The route moves from Riverfront Park to Inland Empire Way, to Highway 195 South to Hatch Road, back to 57th Avenue, to Freya, Sprague and Argonne, to Upriver, west on the Centennial Trail and back to the clock tower. There will be a barbecue at the clock tower between 1 and 1:30 p.m.
