Unified Class Prepared For Future

Growing up, we were always told that we were something special. We were the Class of 2000.

Now that we are finally graduating, we have become so much more than a number.

Most of us came to Rogers four years ago from Garry and Shaw junior highs, and you could see the division between the schools.

During fall sports that year we were constantly told that we were no longer in middle school. We had to struggle to work as one school now instead of two. We slowly stopped calling ourselves Chiefs or Vikings and we proudly called ourselves Pirates!

Many memories were made in athletics, choir, band, drama and the many other clubs that we have at Rogers. We have made memories at Rogers that we will never forget.

Our class has always been known for our spirit. We won the spirit competition during Homecoming our freshman year which was only the start of our lively con experiences. All of us will remember our first Big R con and the con that we met in the back parking lot for so we could walk in as a unified class.

We are all preparing for our futures, and as we leave for college, the military, or work we will look back at Rogers and remember all of the good times. We will know that we survived the construction, the crowded halls and the stereotypes that Rogers has. We will remember our successes and those of our classmates. And how could you forget having a former NBA player coach your school’s team.

As I look back at my four years at Rogers I realize that we truly have become a unified class. While we will all walk across the stage during graduation feeling relieved that high school is over, we will also be sad at the thought of leaving friends. Good-bye, Class of 2000, and good luck in everything you do!
