Five years ago: Actor Christopher Reeve was paralyzed when thrown from his horse during a jumping event in Charlottesville, Va.

One year ago: A U.N. tribunal indicted Slobodan Milosevic for crimes against humanity, holding the Yugoslav president personally responsible for the horrors in Kosovo and brutal purge of ethnic Albanians. In Milan, Italy, the latest restoration of “The Last Supper” by Leonardo da Vinci, an effort that took 22 years, went on display.
