The debate is far from over regarding Snake River dams and their impact on the recovery of endangered Snake River salmon.
To help sort out the collision of interests in this high-profile regional issue, an impressive panel of people with various perspectives is being assembled in Spokane June 15, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Met.
“Both Sides of the River: Salmon Recovery in the Columbia Basin,” is a free presentation by Eastern Washington University.
The audience will have opportunities to interact with 10 panelists, including James Buchal, Oregon attorney and author of The Great Salmon Hoax; Nicole Cordan, legal director for Save Our Wild Salmon; Will Stelle, regional administrator for the National Marine Fisheries Service; James Sedell, deputy water coordinator for the U.S. Forest Service, plus tribal representatives and experts in resource economics.
Seattle reporter William Dietrich, author of “Northwest Passage: The Great Columbia River,” will give the keynote address.

The Northwest Whitewater Association has scheduled a presentation on the issue of breeching Snake River Dams during its monthly meeting June 14, 7 p.m., at Solicitor’s Corner, Division Street and Francis Avenue.
