Keep Owen On The Job

Washington’s lieutenant governor isn’t the highest-profile politician in the state but as presiding officer of the Senate he plays a quiet, pivotal role in the Legislature’s work. Brad Owen, a conservative Democrat respected for his fairness, has done a commendable job as lieutenant governor. When the Legislature’s not in session, Owen has made himself known as an advocate for children’s issues, including prevention of substance abuse. He also has worked on international trade and economic development.

Republican challenger Mike Elliott says he wants to have an impact on taxes, school choice, property rights and transportation.

These ideas are taken directly from the GOP platform but political newcomer Eliott doesn’t offer convincing evidence that he could make much of a difference on these or other important issues.

Owen, who is widely acknowledged for his professionalism, has earned continued support and we urge you to vote for him.
