Man Stable After Stabbing In Tekoa
The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing of a man reported at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Oakesdale Marshal Dan Brown was called to the Busch Gas Pumps in Oakesdale, where he found a man who had suffered a stab wound to his stomach or chest. The man and his wife were en route to the hospital when they stopped at the station to ask for directions.
David Lewis Johnson, 43, was taken by ambulance to the Whitman Medical Center in Colfax, where doctors performed exploratory surgery to determine the seriousness of the wound. On Wednesday Johnson was in stable condition.
The marshal determined that the stabbing occurred in the 600 block of Crosby in the nearby town of Tekoa. A preliminary investigation revealed that the wound was self-inflicted, though sheriff’s deputies are still trying to determine if the injury was accidental or intentional.
