Analysis

What kind of opponent does it take for Seattle to be favored? One that has even fewer offensive weapons than the Seahawks. That takes some doing. But San Diego offers up 255-pound Jermaine Fazande and 252-pound Robert Chancey at running back, and journeyman Jim Harbaugh at quarterback. Not that the Seahawks are loaded at those positions, but the Ricky Watters-Shaun Alexander combo certainly can hold its chin straps high. Watters is expected to play despite an ailing toe, and that’s a good thing. In this bleak season, he’s been Seattle’s MVP thus far. Watters, though, has only rushed for 3.1 yards per carry in his last five games against San Diego’s stingy defense. Therefore, the Seahawks might have to rely on unreliables - the defense (scary), quarterback Jon Kitna (very scary) and Alexander (not so scary). Perhaps two of the three will happen. Seahawks 16, Chargers 13.
