North Spokane Banks Robbed

From Staff

Two north Spokane banks were robbed Friday afternoon, and authorities believe the heists are related, Spokane Police spokesman Dick Cottam reported.

A man carrying a semiautomatic rifle robbed a Bank of America branch at 1628 W. Five Mile.

Cottam said the man was about 6 feet tall and was wearing a mask, leather jacket and jeans.

He fled the scene in a teal green Ford Probe that had a rear spoiler. The car was driven by a different white male.

Later, a second robbery occurred at the U.S. Bank branch at 902 W. Garland.

The two men who robbed the bank had knives. One was dressed in white with brown pants and the other was wearing all black. Both men wore face coverings, police said.

There was no description of the clothing or the car they were seen driving.

The FBI is handling the cases.
