School Closed For Nearby Meth Bust

Correction: 11-16-00; V5 A headline in last Saturday’s Valley Voice incorrectly stated that Seth Woodard Elementary School had been closed during a nearby meth bust. The school in fact, was locked down and in session.

Students at Seth Woodard Elementary School underwent a brief lockdown Wednesday while deputies busted a meth operation across the street from the school.

Five arrests were made in the apartment complex at 1517 N. Park Road.

Officers informed Seth Woodard Principal Pam Francis before the raid. Classes continued as usual during the 15-minute lockdown, Francis said, with blinds down on the windows and doors locked.

A West Valley resource officer checked on progress of the law enforcement action before students were released at their regular afternoon time.

Students took home a letter explaining to parents about the raid. School buses drove students home right past the site, marked off with yellow tape.
