Think ahead to get a spot in one of the lesson groups for snowshoeing plus nordic and downhill skiing sponsored by the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department.

Courses start Dec. 2, but pre-trip meetings are set for Nov. 30.

No registration is required for these upcoming winter-sports seminars at Mountain Gear, 2002 N. Division:

Cross-country skiers can get a jump on the season with a free ski tune-up clinic at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16

Avalanche decision making will be discussed based on a real incident in a seminar Nov. 18 beginning at 3 p.m. Presentation will explore how terrain, weather and other factors conspire to create avalanche hazards and the need for careful route selection and other human decisions. Info: 625-6246.
