Adams County Othello
A rash of drive-by paintball shootings has police on their toes. Police have documented 15 homes, five cars and four stop signs being hit. Two public buildings were also hit by the pink, water-soluble pellets.
Ferry County Republic
The emergency room at Ferry County Memorial Hospital has been outfitted with a new base radio, so ambulance crews can brief waiting doctors about incoming patients. The base station had been in the nurses station, making it a bit of a challenge to keep communication going.
Grant County Grand Coulee
In September, the hospital here posted its second straight month of record-breaking revenues. Net gain for the month was $125,000. The recorded net gain for the first nine months of 2000 is $356,500 - $143,200 more than all of 1999. The hospital kept only four cents of every dollar it took in.
Lincoln County Davenport
Daniel L. Gaines, 47, of Spokane, was taken to the local clinic after a brawl with another inmate last week in the Lincoln County Jail. Gaines received eight stitches in his left eyebrow. The other inmate was Michael W. Price, 29, of Oregon. There will be no charges filed pertaining to the fight.
Spokane County Spokane
The Spokane Housing Authority has named three new members to its resident advisory board. They are Rhonda L. Anderson, Anna Freilander and Carol Echtenkamp.
Stevens County Colville
Veterans Service representative Ken Walden says he’s received a pledge from Ferry, Stevens and Pend Oreille counties for money to buy a van to help disabled vets get to doctor and other appointments. To make it happen, a Disabled American Veterans chapter must be formed to take responsibility for the van and ride program. To help, call (509) 935-4559.
Whitman County Pullman
The Pullman Chamber of Commerce’s general membership luncheon will be Tuesday at noon. Special guests from the Pullman Memorial Hospital will be on hand to discuss health care on the Palouse and emergency medical services. To reserve a seat, call 334-3565.

Benewah County St. Maries
The library will give away book bags and pencils today through Saturday as part of Idaho’s Family Reading Week. Families may also register to win Southwest Airlines tickets. Family Reading Week is sponsored by Gov. Kempthorne and the Idaho Council of the International Reading Association.
Bonner County Priest River
City Clerk Doug Hooper has submitted a letter of resignation to the City Council stating he’d found greener pastures in Western Washington. Also, Mayor Tom Hartliep reappointed most planning and zoning commission members during last Monday’s meeting. One member is still needed to fill the five-member commission.
Boundary County Bonners Ferry

Kootenai County Coeur d’Alene
The Haunted House held by the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Hayden Community Oriented Policing Service Team and the Hayden Fire Association was attended by 1,017 people. About $885 and a pickup load of food was donated to the Coeur d’Alene Food Bank.
Latah County Moscow
The Latah County Historical Society’s traditional ham and turkey Harvest Dinner with all the fixings will be served 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Moscow Junior High School cafeteria, 1410 East D St. The society will provide free dinners to needy families through donations. The event is a major fund-raiser for the society.
Shoshone County Kellogg
Volunteers helped construct a donated cabin for local youths to use at Camp Aowakiya. The cabin can be seen at the day camp at Montgomery Gulch.

Lincoln County Libby
The new Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Kootenai River Road and Montana Highway 37 was built in four days. Volunteers came from Wyoming, Idaho, Washington and Montana to help so church members could return to their door-to-door ministry.
