Error Forces Change In Potlatch Earnings

Potlatch Corp. revised its second- and third-quarter earnings reports following the discovery of an accounting error.

The Spokane-based company lost $17.5 million, or 61 cents per share, during the first nine months of the year. It had incorrectly reported a $11.8 million loss for that time period.

The accounting error overstated the value of inventories for Potlatch’s printing papers segment. The company will file amended reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
