North Side Churches Plan Special Thanksgiving Services

Next Thursday is Thanksgiving, a day when many people gather in churches to given thanks for their blessings. This year several North Side churches are planning to offer special Thanksgiving worship services in advance.

Whitworth Presbyterian Church will host a Thanksgiving Eve worship service at the church Wednesday at 7 p.m. The church is located at 312 W. Hawthorne Road.

St. David’s Episcopal Church will begin its Thanksgiving worship service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Members of the church will be joined by the congregation of Northwood Presbyterian Church for the celebration.

The church is located at 7315 N. Wall.

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8441 N. Indian Trail Road, will begin its celebration of Thanksgiving at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

A worship service is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4202 N. Belt.

Thanksgiving will be celebrated during a worship service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the First Church of the Open Bible, 8303 N. Division.

Church celebrates new building

The Worship Center at 2303 N. Washington is celebrating its grand opening this Sunday. The nondenominational church, formerly known as the Word Faith Center, will meet for worship in its new building at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Diabetes session planned

Morning Star Baptist Church, 1729 E. Mallon, will host guest speakers on diabetes beginning at noon Saturday. A registered dietician and a certified diabetes educator will speak about medication, testing, diet and exercise.

Admission to the informational session is free and the public is welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

Bazaar Saturday at St. Paul’s

St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1620 N. Monroe, will put on its annual fall bazaar Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be crafts, books, plants and baked goods. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 10.
