Kegel Learning System, But Doesn’T Lack Aplomb

University of Washington coach Rick Neuheisel started the week by saying he would do anything and everything to put pressure on Washington State freshman quarterback Matt Kegel in Saturday’s Apple Cup.

Kegel’s reaction: “Bring it on.”

WSU coach Mike Price’s reaction was a little more reserved.

“It’s my job to cool his jets, make him composed, make sure he is focused,” said Price of his quarterback. “Make sure he knows what he is supposed to be looking for on each play and does those things.”

As for checking to another play, Price believes Kegel is not perfect yet, but is good enough to succeed.

“It’s not second nature to him right now,” the coach said. “He’s careful every time he does it.”
