Steep yourself in the arts. The 12th annual High School Festival of the Arts takes place Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Spokane Opera House, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. Admission is free. Win a trip to Germany! Spend nine days touring castles and soaking up German culture with teens from across the country. Students age 12 to 18 who live in The Spokesman-Review’s home-delivery circulation area are eligible to enter this year’s Young Columbus Essay Contest. To enter, read The Spokesman-Review for two weeks. Keep an article or series of articles on a topic that interests you and write an editorial on the subject that also explains why you feel the way you do. Graduation seems a long way off. But Silverwood Theme Park already is taking reservations for 2001 Grad Night parties. The amusement park is offering three different party packages that start at $50 a person. All packages include rides on the Tremors and Timber Terror roller coasters, along with 11 other rides. Package options include T-shirts, meals and entertainment. The parties start at 11 p.m. and end at 5 a.m. All are drug- and alcohol-free. For more information, call (208) 683-3400, ext. 126.
