Along with eight returners, Przekwas has brought four junior college transfers and three freshmen into the program. … New coaching staff member Cassie Sawyer comes to WSU from the University of Phoenix, where she coached since 1993 and earned NJCAA district coach of the year in 1998 and 2000.

Outlook

The Cougars could be in for another long season, at least according to media voters, who picked them to finish last in the conference. “I think we’ll be better athletically,” said Przekwas, expecting the rebounding to be shored up and the offense to come around once the new players learn the system. With four returning starters, Stanford was the preseason favorite to dethrown back-to-back champ Oregon. The Ducks were picked second, followed by USC, Arizona, UCLA, Arizona State, Washington, Cal, Oregon State and Washington State.
