Churches Offer Morning Services Today

People all over Spokane will be gathering with family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving today. But after you slide that turkey in the oven there still will be plenty of time to make your way to one of the North Side churches offering worship services.

The Unity Church of North Spokane will host a Thanksgiving worship service at 10 a.m. today. The church meets at 6116 N. Market.

Shadle Park Presbyterian Church will host an informal worship service at 9 a.m. today. Casual attire is suggested so people can take part in the church’s annual Turkey Bowl touch football game in Loma Vista Park at Central and Alberta immediately following the service.

The church is located at 5508 N. Alberta.

Thanksgiving worship begins at 9 a.m. this morning at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 6905 N. Country Homes Blvd.

A Thanksgiving Mass begins at 9 a.m. this morning at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 545 E. Providence.

A service of hymns and readings will begin at 11 a.m. today at the Second Church of Christ, Scientist, at 806 W. Indiana.

This year’s community interfaith Thanksgiving service begins at 10 a.m. at Temple Beth Shalom, 1322 E. 30th. The featured speaker is Ferris Paisano, a member of the Nez Perce Tribe and the Baha’i Faith. He will speak on “Circle of Healing.”

The event is sponsored by the Spokane Council of Ecumenical Ministries. Canned goods will be collected for the Second Harvest Food Bank. Monetary offerings will be split between the council and the food bank.

The turkey is served

If you don’t have a turkey to call your own, head to Central United Methodist Church for its annual community Thanksgiving dinner. The free meal will be served from noon to 4 p.m. at the church, located at 518 W. Third.
