Tidyman’S To Move Headquarters
Growth has prompted the Tidyman’s grocery chain to find a new headquarters.
Tidyman’s corporate offices, which have been located in the Spokane Valley since the first Tidyman’s grocery store opened at 116 S. McKinnon in 1969, will not be moving far.
The move from 17515 E. Appleway in Greenacres into the new International Gateway Corporate Park is expected to happen Feb. 1.
Relocating was necessary to give Tidyman’s headquarters a larger and more functional space, said Mike Davis Tidyman’s chief operating officer.
“We’ve actually outgrown the location we were in,” Davis said. “We’ve been looking for a while and a fit for us.”
The new location, which is along the north side of Interstate 90, just west of Spalding Auto Parts, was desirable to Tidyman’s because of its space and freeway access, Davis said.
Because of the the growth of the company, relocating to a building that does not share warehouse space with office space pleases employees in the corporate offices, said Patty Kilcup, director of consumer affairs and government affairs.
The new offices at the International Gateway will offer 12,000 square feet for the 50 employees working at the grocery chain’s headquarters.
The employee-owned Tidyman’s had been located in a Greenacres warehouse since 1983. The warehouse was partly converted to office space. Tidyman’s sold the building two years ago to Plumb-Co Supply. Since then, Tidyman’s has been renting the space from Plumb-Co.
“They need warehouse space and really didn’t need the office space,” Davis said.
Tidyman’s owns 22 stores in Montana, Idaho and Washington. The Montana stores are Country Markets and are located in some of Montana’s larger towns. Tidyman’s also owns Dissmore’s IGA in Pullman.
There are 10 Tidyman’s in the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene area, including three in the Spokane Valley.
Tidyman’s employees 553 people in Spokane and 1,966 in the three states.
