Welding Sparks Likely Fire Cause

Sparks from a welding project likely started a small fire Monday morning.

A man was doing welding work on a pickup truck at a private shop at 6600 E. Riverside Monday morning. He left around 7:50 a.m.

His son discovered a fire at the building shortly before 8 a.m.

The blaze caused $5,000 in damages to the truck and shop, said Valley Fire District investigator Kevin Miller.

He suggests watching for at least a half hour after welding to make sure sparks haven’t started any fires.
