Get A Hunch/Bet A Bunch

The Arabians are running another stakes race tonight, the curiously named Daughters of the Desert Purse.

How do Arabian daughters of the desert wind up in Spokane in November? Take a wrong turn at Afghanistan?

I like Zale’s Storm, but so will everybody else. Trainer Dale Shaffrick has put 11 of his 17 starters in the money.

Jerry Partin must want this one awfully bad. He’s got three entered here. Line them up, run them as a three-horse relay team and they might have a shot.

Actually, Partin’s Mackies Emerald breaking from the rail might be a good play in your exactas and first pick three.

Jockey Jack Kaenel has lived lived up to expectations since his arrival 2 1/2 weeks ago from Southern California. The winner of the ‘82 Preakness as a 16-year-old still loves race riding.

Count on him to give a good account of every mount he’s on, including a shipper from Hastings Park in Vancouver named Soccer King. He’s part of a live entry in tonight’s first with Go Go Edric. You get both for the price of one.

Get there early and go for it.

Tonight’s stabs:

FIRST: $25 to win, $25 to place on the entry of GO GO EDRIC and SOCCER KING. $2 daily double that entry and CLEAR KNIGHT with HE SCORZ in the second. $20 to show on the GO GO EDRIC-SOCCER KING entry. Plow those winnings into HE SCORZ to place in the second. Invest any winnings to NIFTY NITE to place in the fifth. Gamble the whole pile on BOOGIE JO to place in the sixth.

SECOND: $10 across on HE SCORZ.

FIFTH: $20 across on NIFTY NITE. $1 pick 3: NIFTY NITE and CANDY’S ANGEL with BOOGIE JO in the sixth and SHEPHUS TOO and COTTAGE GROVE in the seventh.

SIXTH:$2 trifecta wheel BOOGIE JO and MAJOR WAVE for first and second with ALL for third.

SEVENTH: $2 exacta box SEPHUS TOO, NANABONANAFEFIANA and GO DOWN MOSES. $2 trifecta box same three. $1 trifecta wheel those three for first with COTTAGE GROVE for second with top three for third.

Last time out (Sunday): Lost 37.30.

Bottom line: Down $1,283.90 for the meeting.
