From Staff

Spokane County sheriff’s investigators are trying to determine the identity of a woman whose body was pulled from the Spokane River Saturday afternoon.

A man was walking his dog on the west bank of the river at 3:30 p.m.

near a cemetery on Government Way when he noticed the body 20 feet from shore, sheriff’s Cpl. Dave Reagan said.

The white female was wearing only shorts and a shirt. There were no obvious signs of trauma, Reagan said.

An autopsy will be performed Monday, Reagan said.
