BACKPACKING

Glacier National Park ranks No. 1 in Backpacker Magazine’s reader poll on the best backpacking areas in America.

Specifically, Glacier received the highest ranking for best scenery and for the quality of trail maintenance, according to the October issue. The park ranked third for wildlife viewing.

Backpackers apparently were not deterred by two grizzly maulings that injured backpackers this year.
