Festival Features Giant Leaf Pile, Composting Techniques
The annual Fall Leaf Festival will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the John A. Finch Arboretum.
As in past years it will feature a giant leaf pile for children.
Art projects are being sponsored by the Corbin Art Center and there will be hands-on demonstrations and displays by several organizations.
This year, festival participants can have their pictures taken peering through a wooden cutout painted like big garden vegetables.
The event will also give homeowners new ideas on how to recycle and reuse garden waste with compost bins and mulching lawn mowers.
It will be part of a Compost Fair being held in conjunction with the leaf festival.
Spokane County residents will be able to pick up free compost bins. Training videos for using the compost bins will be shown in the Woodland Center building from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The arboretum is located west of downtown Spokane along the Sunset Boulevard at F Street.
