* The play’s the thing. We know you’ve been looking for ways to promote your high school play or musical. Our Generation wants to help. We plan to occasionally run a theater column in our section. * It’s a Family a Fair. Teen volunteers are needed to help with this year’s Family a Fair, which runs Oct. 28-29 at the Ag Trade Center. The annual nonprofit event features workshops and exhibits aimed at family fun and education. The teen volunteers can take part in a number of activities, including helping with art class, wearing character costumes and aiding firefighters with tours of the fire safety house. Each volunteer gets a T-shirt. For information, call 456-3733.

* Get out in the great outdoors. The Spokane Parks and Recreation Department is offering several classes for fall aimed at teens. Courses include rock climbing, marksmanship and snowshoeing.
