Pepper Spray Suspect Sought

A man with a pepper spray-like container unsuccessfully tried to force a motel clerk to take off her clothes Saturday morning, a Spokane County Sheriff’s official said.

The suspect pointed a cannister at a 52-year-old clerk at about 5 a.m. at the Comfort Inn, 7111 N. Division. He ordered her to take off her clothes, but she ignored him and pretended to keep working, the sheriff’s office said.

After a few seconds, the man left the scene.

He is described as a white male in his teens or early 20s. He wore a white hockey goalie’s mask.

A robbery with a similar suspect brandishing pepper spray occurred Oct. 17 at Motel 6, 1919 N. Hutchinson.

The Shilo Inn, 923 E. Third and the Zip Trip, 4800 W. Nine Mile, have been robbed recently in a similar manner, the Sheriff’s Office said
