Churches Plan Halloween Fun
Every kid with a calendar knows exactly how many days are left until Halloween. Parents looking for a warm, indoor place for their children to get treats will be happy to know that a few North Side churches are planning to observe the holiday with some sort of celebration.
Audubon Park United Methodist Church will have its fall festival on Sunday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The evening will include a potluck dinner, a costume contest, games and trick-or-treating inside the church. Kids also can bring a decorated pumpkin from home to enter in the pumpkin carving contest.
The church is located at 3908 N. Driscoll Blvd. All are welcome to attend.
The Mt. Spokane Cluster of Lutheran churches in North Spokane will forgo the usual Halloween party and instead observe All Saints Day with a special worship service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8441 N. Indian Trail Road.
Prince of Peace will also host its annual fall family bazaar Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be baked goods, crafts, quilted items, plants, sewing items and the Prince of Peace bean soup mix. Refreshments will be available at the bazaar.
Library for sale
St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church is having a sale to get rid of all the books that once filled the library of the church’s school, which closed last year. The entire inventory will be sold and the public is invited to the sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Hardback books will sell for 50 cents and paperbacks for 25 cents.
