Recent additions to the staff of World Wide Packets include:

Dirk M. Foreman was named vice president of systems integration. Foreman previously was managing director-Internet Architecture Group for SBC DataComm’s California markets. Earlier, he was director-systems and design engineering for Ameritech Data Networking Solutions and held a variety of engineering positions with Anixter International.

Bill Galvin was appointed vice president of sales. He previously served as vice president of the Western Region for SBC DataComm headquarters in Pleasanton, Calif. For 12 years, Galvin led marketing and sales divisions for Anixter International, first as district manager of the New York Tri-State area and then as vice president of marketing based in Massachusetts and vice president of corporate marketing based in Chicago.

Marla Telin was named vice president of finance. Telin previously was vice president-finance and administration for Advanced Hardware Architectures in Pullman, and as controller and controller/assistant treasurer with Advanced Input Devices in Coeur d’Alene. Prior to that, Telin worked with Key Tronic Corp. in Spokane.

Jim Clarizio has joined Levernier Construction as director of project development. Clarizio, who has a bachelor’s degree in business, previously worked as sales manager for Acme Materials & Construction.

JL Szatkowski, Consulting Engineers has moved to Spokane from Bountiful, Utah, where the firm was in business for 12 years. James L. Szatkowski, a professional engineer, is owner and principal. He has experience providing program/project management, mechanical and electrical engineering services and computer systems integration and support. Dr. Susan Lehman has joined Dr. William Gary at 1414 N. Vercler in the Valley as a family practice physician. A graduate of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Lehman completed a family practice internship and residency at the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, N.Y. Special interests include women’s health issues, geriatric medicine and adolescent health.

Moving up:

Mark Botterbusch has been named business banking officer at the Spokane office of Western Bank, the commercial banking division of Washington Mutual. He was previously a credit analyst at Western Bank for the past two years. Earlier, he was a senior credit officer for Farm Credit Services in Spokane. His new responsibilities include developing and managing banking relationships with commercial clients. Botterbusch earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Montana.

Elected:

Michael Rydbom of Associated Independent Agencies in Pullman has been elected president-elect of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Washington, which represents 1,300 independent insurance agents statewide. Rydbom began his career with Sayles Insurance Agency in Pullman in 1976. In 1985, he helped form Associated Independent Agencies Inc., which was a consolidation of Sayles and Downen Insurance Agency. In 1993, he was elected president of Associated Independent Agencies.

Michael Ormsby, an attorney with Preston, Gates & Ellis, has been elected chair of the Eastern Washington University Board of Trustees for the third time. Spokane psychologist Mark Mays was elected vice chair. Ormsby, who first joined the board in 1985, also served as chair in 1986-87 and 1994-95. Mays was appointed to the EWU Board of Trustees in 1997. Besides being a psychologist, he also holds a law degree from Gonzaga University.

Spokane attorney Gregory J. Arpin has been elected a trustee for the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers. Arpin, who is a senior partner in the law firm of Paine, Hamblen, Coffin, Brooke & Miller LLP, has a broad trial and appellate practice that includes personal injury defense, employment law, insurance coverage and commercial litigation. The Defense Trial Lawyers association, with more than 750 members, is a group of lawyers who specialize in civil litigation defense.

Kudos:

Rod Clugston, an investment representative with the Coeur d’Alene office of Edward Jones, has been named to the All-American Team of The American Funds Group of mutual funds. Clugston, who joined Edward Jones in 1993, was cited for outstanding service to investors in the Coeur d’Alene area and for financial expertise and dedication to principles of sound mutual fund and variable annuity investing. He earned a master’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and has eight years of experience in the financial services field.
