Flooding Closes Offices
Flooding closed the Spokane Regional Business Center (SRBC) in downtown Spokane Friday.
A broken water pipe on the fourth floor was discovered by a cleaning crew Thursday night, but not before it had caused damage on the first through fourth floors, including knocking out phone service to the building at 801 W. Riverside.
“We’ll have to assess the total damage on Monday to see how far-reaching it was in terms of computers and copiers,” said Gary Clark, who manages the building for Kiemle & Hagood.
Crews worked all day Friday to dry the carpets while the building was closed.
The building houses the Spokane Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Spokane Area Economic Development Council, the Spokane Area Convention and Visitor Bureau and the Spokane Area Business Information Center.
Nancy Chappell, Chamber vice president of finance and operations, was hopeful phone service would be restored by Monday.
