Four Stores Cited In Alcohol Sting

From Staff

Four clerks at Pullman stores were cited for allegedly selling alcohol to minors in a Pullman Police Department sting operation last weekend.

With the help of two Washington State University police interns who were 19 and 20, officers checked 11 stores in town. The clerks at the Corner Market in Adams Mall, Safeway on South Grand, Fairco Mini Market on North Grand and the Hico on Terre View Drive all sold alcohol to the two men without asking for identification.

The sting didn’t come without warning. Several weeks ago, the police department hand-delivered a letter advising the businesses to have their clerks carefully check for identification. In two of the businesses that were cited, the letter was even posted in clear view of the cash register.

Pullman officers have referred the four businesses to the State Liquor Control Board.
