New faces:
Sawtooth Grill, which opened last month at River Park Square in downtown Spokane, has appointed the following managers:
Carl Baber was hired as general manager. Baber previously worked for Dallas-based Brinker International and for Restaurants Unlimited of Seattle, which owns Clinkerdagger. He is a 1995 graduate of Washington State University’s hotel-restaurant administration program.
Jim Harbour was named lead assistant manager. He most recently worked as the kitchen manager for Houston’s Restaurant in Irvine, Calif., and Phoenix, Ariz. He graduated from WSU’s hotel-restaurant administration program in 1998.
Brad Mohr has joined Colville-based Colmac Coil Manufacturing Inc. as research and development engineer. In addition to general research and development duties, Mohr will focus on developing software and new products. He is a 2000 graduate of the University of Idaho, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Danielle Riggs has joined the staff of Christ Clinic as a family nurse practitioner. Riggs earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and psychology at Linfield College in 1977 and a bachelor’s degree in nursing at the Oregon Health Sciences University in 1981. Her background includes experience in a variety of settings, ranging from hospital intensive care units to work with farmworkers.
Telect Inc. has appointed Samuel L. Hayes III to the company’s board of directors. Hayes holds the Jacob H. Schiff Chair in Investment Banking, emeritus at Harvard Business School. He taught at the school from 1970 to 1998. Hayes earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Swarthmore College and an MBA and D.B.A from Harvard Business School. Hayes also serves on the boards of Tiffany & Co., the Eaton-Vance and Kobrick mutual funds, the board of managers of Swarthmore College and the board of trustees of the New England Conservatory of Music.
Moving up:
Colmac Coil Manufacturing Inc. has promoted David Honeycutt to R&D engineering manager. His duties include oversight of new product issues, product testing, certification program work, R&D staff supervision and software programming/design and troubleshooting. He joined Colmac in 1996 as a research and development project engineer. A 1992 graduate of Virginia Tech, he earned bachelor’s degrees in aerospace engineering and ocean engineering, followed by two years of graduate school.
Charles N. “Chuck” Prussack has been named vice president-engineering for the Central Pre-Mix Prestress Co. of Spokane. He previously was engineering manager. Prussack, who joined the company 21 years ago, takes a position vacated by Floyd B. Jones, who retired June 30 after 30 years with the company.

The Spokane Valley Outback Steakhouse has been chosen as one of two state finalists in the second annual Restaurant Neighbor Award program, which was established last year by the National Restaurant Association and its Educational Foundation to honor and recognize contributions local restaurants make to support their communities. The other finalist is Casa Chapala in Kennewick. The Outback Steakhouse recently sponsored the Loreen Miller/Cancer Patient Care Bike Ride. Outback staff cooked barbecue style chicken, tenderloin, filets, bloomin’ onions and served Caesar salad to 526 participants and volunteers.
